HCG Diet Cheating: The Christmas Party

The holidays are upon us, and whats one thing that we know that is going to happen for sure? Food, food, and more food, with a little bit more food here and there. Doing any Diet during the holidays can be tough, to say the least, but it doesn’t need to be impossible. Here are a few HCG diet foods tips to help you survive the food temptation while sticking with the HCG

Plan ahead.

You know when the holidays are, and you know when your social gatherings are. If you know that you are going to be on the HCG whether it is phase 2 or the maintenance phase diet during this time, you may not be able to partake in the full feast, but at least you will have something to eat, and you know you won’t be jeopardising your diet.

It is very important that you don’t lose sight of your goals and how far you have come. Stay focused!. If you stray from the HCG diet during a holiday party, your weight loss will slow or stall completely for 3-6 days. The only way to fix this stall is to stick with the diet 100% and drink plenty of water. An apple day here is a great idea and is very effective. But even then your body will take a few days to recover and start losing again.

Get support from your friends and family. If they know that you are dieting, they’ll be less likely to keep asking you if you want a certain food.
Let them know that you have finally decided to take control of your health and weight and that you need their support during the holidays to be successful.

Distract yourself. If the going gets tough, and you want nothing more than some of Nana’s homemade pav then find something to distract yourself. You could help clean up the kitchen, play with any children that may be at your party, or even get some board games out that the whole family can play. This will take your mind off the food you’re craving, and it can be fun at the same time.

What to eat and drink?

While it is important to mindful of the foods you eat at this time, there are some things you can do that will minimise any stalls or gains you may have.

The most important! Stay away from refined sugars. So these are basically desserts. Stick to fresh fruits with a dab of fresh cream. Too much sugar is the enemy of all people not just those on a diet.

Carbohydrates are not going to be your friend so pass on the bread rolls and the pasta salad. If you have to option for brown rice, then take this. The husk on the brown rice is fibre with slow your body digesting it and will not spike your insulin resulting in the body not wanting to store this as fat. The same goes for pasta.

When it comes to meat avoid any fatty meats like chops. The good thing about this time of year is BBQ’s. BBQ’s are actually quite good because the fat that is in the meat is drained away. As long as it is a no-so fatty cut of meat. Chicken and turkey are the best options as is fish.

When it comes to that celebratory toast, we all need that glass in hand. A big no-no is anything with a soft drink it such as coke or sprite. A glass of coke has around eight teaspoons of sugar in it. The alcoholic beverage that will do the least damage is vodka/gin soda water and lime. So bear this in mind when you BYO to the next social.

And remember this.

It is important to remember that even the most motivated person can slip up or also cheat on purpose when a special occasion comes round. It is not the end of the world, in fact far from it. Always remember how far you have come and don’t let that goal get away from you.

Everything in moderation, and here at the HCG Diet NZ, we never say not to enjoy your self when it comes to those specials times of the year. But a bit of knowledge and planning can help reduce those guilty feelings as well as keeping you on track to looking fab in the new year.
